Boars
The Boar people can be generally compared to a blend of ancient Roman society and members of the Suidae biological family.
Boars are one of the fifty-five races of anthropomorphic mammals and are grouped in the subgenus of Mastodon together with Elephants, Hippos, Oxen and Rhinos.
Physically, they are the "smallest" race among all Mastodons, with an average height of about 6 feet, but they have a stout and stocky physique, with a weight that never dips below 100Kg. Each of their feet has four hooves, while their hands have five fingers that resemble large nails. Both males and females have tusks that are large enough to protrude from the mouth, and are more noticeable in males than females. Their skin is thick and covered in fur that ranges from reddish-brown to blackish. The fur on their forehead to the middle of their back forms a sort of crest.
Boars' society is based on two main principles. The first is the distinction between citizens and commoners, and being a free Linìan citizen (which was initially only allowed to Boars and was only slowly granted to other races) has always been a privilege that brings great benefits, such as access to public and judiciary employment. The second principle is the concept of mos maiorum: for Boars, traditions must be the foundation of ethics, which includes civic sense, military valor, respect for law, and the Pietas - a deep sense of devotion to deities, homeland, and family. For this reason, each Boar is identified by three names: Nomem (proper name), Nomen Familia (father's name, or mother's name for females), and Nomen Gens (ancient surname of one's lineage, which identifies the individual as a citizen with rights).
Their territorial expansion led to the establishment of many cities, often built on the plan of a military camp called a Castrum, which is rectangular in shape and bisected by two main perpendicular roads. These cities always include structures for public use, such as markets, large amphitheaters for games, saunas, and mud pools. Their architectural grandeur is particularly notable thanks to well-designed streets, triumphal arches, and impressive aqueducts.
The Boars' society developed around a thriving agriculture that produces tubers, grains, and wine. Their iron and copper mines are also very important, as is their trade in wool and fabrics produced by their sheep and cattle breeding industry. Linìa is considered one of the first and most efficient equal legal systems, a claim also made by Kibaya's Pandas and Turao's Gorillas. Their literature is thriving, but despite the many poets who flourish in the Republic, it is legal and technical texts that find fertile ground in their culture.
They speak the Commal language, common to all Anthro mammal races, and the most commonly spoken language on the planet.
Religiously they are mostly devoted to Caamiran (deity of law and cities), Rowana (deity of family and hearth), and Kalaukeke (deity of competition and battle), but here and there also thrive the cults of Madra (deity of discord and deceit), Dekar (deity of pride and slavery), Mizame (deity of drunkenness and lust), and Thialon (deity of tyranny and conquest).
Their Ancestral Princes were Iulius and Augusta, who taught their race the importance of always showing strength and resilience. Iulius emphasized the importance of unity as a race and attacking rather than standing still in order to secure a prosperous future for all. Augusta, on the other hand, taught them to always find time to enjoy the pleasures of life, especially food, hygiene, and companionship.
