Mice
The Mouse people can be generally compared to a blend of Mianmar Pyu society and members of Muridae biological family.
Mice are one of the fifty-five races of anthropomorphic mammals that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Rodents together with Beavers, Porcupine, Rats and Squirrels.
Physically, they are very small, among the smallest Anthro races at all, with a height rarely reaching 2.5 feet and a negligible weight of no more than 20 kg. Their coat, short and shiny, varies individually from brownish to black and covers the entire body except for the legs, ears, tail, and muzzle tip, which are almost completely hairless and gray-pink in color. The tail is approximately as long as the trunk and head put together. Their sense of hearing is highly developed, and they can hear frequencies well beyond the ultrasound threshold.
Mouse people have always been considered among the most skilled croppers on the planet, and not surprisingly, their culture and nature are intrinsically linked to fieldwork and the storage of food and provisions for every need. It's also not surprising that they've developed their society among the Maingkwa paddy fields, a position that has greatly favored their commercial relationships. During the prehistoric period, Mouse people were, in fact, on the terrestrial trade route that connected all Sungam peoples, from the northernmost points of the Neygol forest to the Ten Gon swamps.
Some Panda historians claim that Mouse people were once in control of eighteen small realms and describe them as a mild and peaceful people. Among them, war was virtually unknown, and disputes were often resolved through duels between champions or fighting competitions. Crimes were punished with lashes, and there were no prisons, although the death penalty was provided for particularly serious guilt. Mouse people's realms never formed a true kingdom, but the most powerful often assumed a dominant role, demanding tribute from the weakest.
From this, and from their peaceful and reserved nature, one can easily deduce the main reason for their voluntary annexation to the Kibaya kingdom. Although Kibaya's Pandas are not actually mighty predator people, which probably worked in their favor in that sense, they certainly constituted a strong alliance and protection that was as much economic as it was military.
Their cities seem very tiny and cute and include Zanthist pagodas and cylindrical stupas with four arches, often with a hti (umbrella) on top. They wear garments mostly made of vegetable silk, as the silkworm is almost sacred to them, as much as rice.
A further appreciation due to Mouse people is for having given birth to the well-known Master Zant, who, after years of ascetic hermitage on the high peaks of the Uhn mountains, gave birth to the ascetic religion that bears his name.
They speak the Commal language, common to all Anthro mammal races, and the most commonly spoken language on the planet.
Religiously they are mostly lay followers of Zantist asceticism, practicing meditation and self spiritual research, but here and there still thrive some cults of Ayrus (deity of prophecies and time), Azlean (deity of peace and medicine), Najan (deity of agriculture and community), Sia Mori (deity of arts and dreams) and Kudan (deity of diseases and poisons).
Their Ancestral Princes were Zi Dengtan and Sri Ksetra, who taught their race that the strength of their people lies in numbers; the more Mice there are in the world, the more difficult it will be for their culture to disappear. They also teach them that the night is always preferable to the day because the more they're able to hide from others, the more easily their presence will be ignored.
