However, after the war, from the moment Wrik and his followers take Squirrel people hostage, Ardeel will greatly change his attitude. Seeing the conditions in which his people are forced, the death of his parents and relatives, and the extreme danger in which his future wife and queen finds herself, will make him give in and he will begin to feel the insurmountable weight of responsibility for his people: Ardeel will begin to feel unfit and unprepared, not up to par with his father.
