Cales

He's an adult Weasel, sulky, gruff, silent, but also particularly brave and noble of heart. He has very light colored fur, similar to that of stoats, with deep blue eyes and some scars scattered all over his body. He dresses in green and nature colors, and always in armor, ready to fight at any moment, rarely lowering the hood that covers much of his muzzle. He’s a Hunter, and officially the last one of his House, he has a story made up of dishonor and injustice, to which he refuses to yield.

Calès' father died about ten years before the Tale, due to a night ambush by a legion of Linìa to the garrison he headed. Shortly after, the scion of a Gautier’s rival House presented indisputable evidence that accused him of treason, although he too died in the attack. Even if the entire Gautier House refused to believe the allegations, the evidence was so overwhelming that they could not object. Everyone had to resign themselves to dishonor, give up lands and properties, and give up their surname, their greatest sign of prestige. All except Calès, who preferred exile and living as a bounty hunter. His plan is to obtain as much information as possible from Boar people, gaining their trust by capturing Republic’s enemies, looking for information that can absolve the father and their honor. This stubborn refusal and his rebellious life are the reason why the Weasels' ambassador at the Council of Races, who is that same scion who accused Calès' father, chose to send him with Thela. The excuse of being able to redeem his father's sins in a potentially suicidal mission would have taken an uncomfortable one out of the way.

Unfortunately, Calès is a sad character and always poised between depression and fortitude, always tormented by his quest for revenge and redemption. He'll barely feel close with the group when Caius dies, and he'll feel guilty for it, sinking back into his closure. Then, he will rise emotionally again only to collapse again after mistakenly causing Tabansi's death. And so he goes, in a constant alternation between strength and sadness.

He's a very skilled hunter, armed with a crossbow and exceptional aim who spends his free time crafting more darts and smoking his pipe. In fact, he has very few interests or hobbies, except hunting and revenge, and it will be Savron who will change his mind.
