Mashdu

He’s a young-adult Wild-dog, with a fizzy and witty personality, a very thin body and very little strength, clean and well-maintained, an effeminate and often androgynous attitude, lot of intelligence and even more knowledges. He's an Archivist, a Master of the Grand Academy of Knowledge of Yphoree, probably the youngest ever to have received this title and honor.

He will appear in the Tale only starting from the third season, and will finally explain all about the Weapons of the Ancients turned into the Shards.
He's a character with a rather elusive nature, who apparently shows himself to be likeable, open and vital, but deep down he suffers from a huge loneliness. Life inside the Grand Academy is entirely centered on study and is frequented almost exclusively by elderly Elephants, which makes him a bit of an outcast. The only thing that bonds him to other Masters, besides knowledge, is a hookah and sweet-tasted tobacco fondness. This is why Mashdu finds it really tempting to join Thela’s group venture in search of the prophecy secrets.

After Caius’ death Thela's group is left without a real in-field fighter, so Mashdu decides to hire an old friend of his, Tabansi. They met years earlier when he wished to explore a dangerous area and needed a bodyguard. Since then, they've been paired up several times, always as researcher and bodyguard, and also had some intimate relationships, which will never be stated but still be quite obvious. After Tabansi's death, and even more so as Thela's turning into a Black Swan progress, Mashdu will begin to show himself more and more detached and withdrawn, feeling no longer part of the group. While not being disinterested in the task, he will end up feeling a stranger towards them, falling into gloominess and a neglect feeling, enough to behave like a simple guide and nothing more.

Mashdu is a pacifist and totally unfit for combat character, similar to Thela and completely opposite to Tabansi. He carries a dagger, more to give himself a semblance of readiness than for real usefulness. In fact, he never uses it and prefers to get away from any battles, using illusion or mesmerism metamagic as needed. He loves city life with all its comforts but, when he’s traveling or in the wilderness, he’s not unprepared at all, even if his fancy and showy clothes suggest the opposite.
