Tamar
He is a very young raccoon, exuberant, arrogant and sly, with little or no concern about dangers and consequences of risky actions. Despite being a Jostler, and has the habit of avoiding responsibilities, he still is a caring young and good-hearted character.

He’s a very freethinking rogue who never shows any respect for authority, unless it's his grandmother. His father is the caravan chief who leads the whole clan and even if Tamar knows that, one day, he will have to take his place as guide, he still prefers not to think about it and enjoy life. His grandmother, on other hand, is a Witch, very wise and cultured of draconic language and traditions, and she’s the only one who Tamar pays attention to, sometimes.

At the beginning of the Tale, Grandma Alina's concerns will indeed push Tamar (and the rest of their clan) to take an interest in Thela's group and help them with the prophecy. Throughout the unfolding of the Tale, Tamar will suffer and stage all the abuses of his people. In fact, many clans will sell themselves as spies for Rat People, while others will remain faithful (so to speak) to the Varoian Council. Even before the war with Rat People, Raccoons clans were frowned upon as nomads and gypsies, often considered only as thieves and swindlers, but after the outbreak of the war they will be considered traitors on both fronts, and Tamar will suffer the effects of this stereotyping with much pain.
Anyway, after leaving Thela's Group, forced by his grandmother to follow the newborn Varoian Council, Tamar will feel very close to Tèshan, and in time also to Prince Ardeel and the others who will escort him.
In the end, the loss of friends and relatives, the pain and humiliations of his people, and the horrors of war experienced on the front lines, will cause him a strong change in personality, turning him into a serious and cautious character, albeit always very witty and cunning.
He often wears colorful clothes, and although he isn't an expert fighter, he is very skilled with short blades and has exceptional aim and agility. He's always equipped with one long dagger and several throwing knives. He refuses any type of armor, complaining about how they slow down and hinder movements. Only once, before an open field battle, he will convince himself to wear studded leather armor, for safety.
