Anacondas

The Anaconda people can be generally compared to a blend of Inca society and members of the Boidae biological family.
Anacondas are one of the twelve races of anthropomorphic reptiles that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Ophidians together with Cobras, Natrixes and Rattlesnakes.

Physically, they are very large and massive, imposing in many respects, with a total length that can easily reach 14 feet, although their height, when crawling on their belly, rarely exceeds 7 feet. The color of their scales has mostly olive-green background covered with spots along the whole body. Their eyes are positioned high on the head, allowing them to see out of the water as they swim without having to expose the rest of their body. Females are known to be much bigger than males. Like a few other Anthros, they reproduce through oviparity, and females lay a pair of eggs in a grassy basin after fertilization occurs through sexual acts.

The history of the Anaconda people is based on a variety of wars and clashes, both internal and external. The most important one was fought between the priestly castes and the royal power. It is known that the great fame of the Anaconda people has its origins in the peerless temple of Thialon built at the source of the Izkuterkal river. This temple quickly became the center of religious practices for nearly all neighboring peoples. Although not all of them worshiped Thialon, it was not only a religious worship center but also a center for trade, cultural and political exchanges. It is easy to guess that priestly hierarchies held much greater power than just spiritual, and Anacondas' queens were often nothing more than simple war leaders chosen during clashes. But a power riot was not long in coming. Thus, a yearning queen rebelled against theocratic hegemony by force and weapons, overturning the situation. Since then, the two powers have been well separated, and the priestly caste has given up political power, although it still rules in some ways.

The Anaconda people's society is divided into distinct social classes: at the apex resides the Empress, followed by priests, and then by warriors. The nobles and Ruling class members are instead in charge of running imperial structures. Leaders of conquered peoples, called curacas, are kept in their ruling positions and are responsible for the executive power in their own areas. Finally, peasants provide the necessary manpower for the survival of the entire system. The livelihood of the Anaconda people is mostly centered on breeding small and large rodents, first of all capybaras, and fishing. Their arts have a Gothic-like style that uses ways and forms of subjugated cultures.

They speak Erpeton language, common to all Anthro reptile races, a harsh, hissing language, spoken mostly in the southern hemisphere of the planet (perhaps an Arabic gibberish).

Religiously they are mostly devoted to Thialon (deity of conquest and tyranny), Madra (deity of discord and deceit), and Kudan (deity of diseases and tortures), but here and there also thrive the cult of Ekoari (deity of science and crafting) Rowana (deity of family and love), and Vael Nohr (deity of magic and knowledge).

Their Ancestral Princes were Càpac and Qekua, who taught their race the inseparable bond with the humidmarshy environment from which they draw life. Qekua taught them to respect not only the disruptive and vital force of water but also those of their females. Being stronger, it's females who decide, during the ritual mass fights for mating, who will have the honor to marry them. Like mighty rivers, female Anacondas have the power to break lives as much as to give life.

Footnote
Typical of Anaconda people is the use of itzcupelt, a very unusual and peculiar sword whose blade is not made from a single piece of metal, and contains a small chain inside. With a simple spring mechanism, the weapon can be transformed from a common longsword into a toothed whip.
