Cobras

The Cobra people can be generally compared to a blend of Zoroastrianism and Islamic Persian society and members of Elapidae biological family.
Cobras are one of the twelve races of anthropomorphic reptiles that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Ophidians together with Anacondas, Natrixes and Rattlesnakes.

Physically, they are short to mid-height and thin-bodied. They have an average length that rarely exceeds 7 feet, although their stature when crawling on their gut almost never exceeds 5 feet. They have scaly skin of a blackish-yellowish color with more or less clear rings, characterized by a singular design placed on the dorsal part of their neck. In an intimidating position, they can exhibit a significant part of their ventral area and at the same time dilate their neck and ribs. This stretched skin forms a sort of almost elliptical hood, which makes the cobra's "glasses" stand out very much. Like a few other Anthros, they reproduce by oviparity, and females lay a pair of eggs in a sandy basin after fertilization occurs through sexual acts.

The Cobra people's reign history began with Rasūl Ummāh who, after deposing the satraps, the previous regional rulers, proclaimed himself caliph of the whole people and started a campaign to annex neighboring regions. Later, about two centuries later, it ended with Abū ibn Abī Quhāfa when the construction of the Great Wall put an end to enmities with neighboring caliphates. At the time, the Cobra people's satrapies were almost autonomous kingdoms, and when Rasūl Ummāh proclaimed his dynasty the heir to the Ancestral Prince, many busied themselves with nullifying external cultural influences and restoring ancient traditions. The cult of Kudan became the state religion, and the magi, the so-called priestly class, acquired great privileges and power. But this also led to the ignition of some clashes, such as those that saw them claim Hearaka pinewood or Tulaph hills. The well-being of the newborn Cobra's Caliphate came largely from trade. In fact, Aculaari silverware and Kibayan silks enriched the markets of the Cobra people. Trade also enriched their cultural knowledge, as traders disseminated books dealing with Iwaraian astronomy and Cawatian medicine.

The fast development of the so-called Threefold Caliphate coincided with the Ummāh dynasty's decline, so that less than half a century before the Tale, most of the caliphate was redesigned in the new perspective of confederation. The confederation marked a decisive turning point in the history of the Cobra people, and numerous mosques and temples, dedicated mainly to Jimbasi and Rowana, were erected as the regional cults of Kudan gradually lost ground without being supplanted.

They speak Erpeton language, common to all Anthro reptile races, a harsh, hissing language, spoken mostly in the southern hemisphere of the planet (perhaps an Arabic gibberish).

Religiously they are mostly devoted to Jimbasi (deity of honor and nobility), Rowana (deity of love and family), and Kudan (deity of poisons and tortures), but here and there also thrive the cults of Dekar (deity of wealth and slavery), Sia Mori (deity of arts and dreams), Zundoey (deity of curses and oblivion), and Najan (deity of agriculture and hunt).

Their Ancestral Princes were Ardashir and Nazanin, who taught their race the importance of both the family nest and monogamous bonds, as well as the prominence of their poison, deadly and unique in the world. Nazanin particularly emphasizes the vital remark of taking turns keeping eggs without ever leaving them unattended. Ardashir, on the other hand, teaches them the fundamentals of fair and correct behavior in clashes by scaring and warning one's opponent before engaging in a fight.
