Pandas
The Panda people can be generally compared to a blend of Han Chinese society and members of Ailuropoda biological genus.
Pandas are one of the fifty-five races of anthropomorphic mammals that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Ursidaes, together with Bears and Red Pandas.
Physically they are on average tall and burly, with a height that often does not exceed 5 feet and a weight that can easily exceed 100 kg. They have a body shape typical of bears, but with luxuriant black-and-white fur. Their fur is black on their ears, eye patches, limbs, and shoulders, while the rest of their coat is white. Their thick, woolly coat keeps them warm in the cool forests. Their skull shape is typical of durophagous carnivores, but it has evolved from previous ancestors to exhibit larger molars with increased complexity and an expanded temporal fossa.
The Xia dynasty was the first dynasty to be described in annals as a unifier of the Panda people and clans. Many other dynasties followed then, capable of holding the Panda people together. At that time, they began to extend their domains to the north, far beyond the Tjilatjap River, and so, through conquest and colonization, much of this area was subjected to a sinization process. Thus, the Pandas' culture strongly spread in neighboring regions. Afterwards, however, the Zhou dynasty began to fragment, giving rise to a series of independent states. This period is traditionally divided into two parts, the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring Kingdoms Period. It was an era of important cultural and philosophical developments known as the Hundred Schools of Thought, in which, not by chance, Zantism was born.
The birth of the Kibaya Empire is commonly associated with the treaty of Mouse people annexation. From then on, in fact, Kibaya began its (almost) unstoppable race towards continent colonization, giving life to the famous Endless Kingdom at East. The annexation of the Red Pandas, Grouses, and Cranes was not easy at all, but the advent of Master Zant greatly helped the process, which quickly began to shift from a military asset to a diplomatic one.
The Pandas are giants in trading some goods, such as bamboo, rice, and various fruits. Their culture is thriving and spans almost every field of knowledge. They are well-known around the planet for their skill in building large and highly populated cities with high defensive walls, majestic pagodas, large trade centers, and one of the oldest legal systems. The pandas enjoy great respect from most Anthro peoples. However, this does not prevent them from having enemies, especially regarding their incessant wish to expand their borders. Their Uhn Mountains' neighbors, as well as the proud Carps of Shino, still see the Kibaya Empire as a bitter enemy.
They speak the Commal language, common to all Anthro mammal races, and the most commonly spoken language on the planet.
Religiously they are mostly lay followers of Zantist asceticism, practicing meditation and self spiritual research, but here and there still thrive some cults of Ayrus (deity of prophecies and time), Vael Nhor (deity of knowledge and magic), Caamiran (deity of law and justice), Madra (deity of deceit and discord) and Najan (deity of agriculture and community).
Their Ancestral Princes were Gongsun Xuanyuan and Zhang Mei, who taught their race the importance and wisdom of calm and quiet living. It is good to resort to violence and use force only if strictly necessary, when diplomacy hopelessly fails or patience is broken. Moreover, although every panda must always provide for themselves, and respect for everyone's living space is always considered sacred, none, or almost none, is ever left alone, and family ties are often given great importance.
