Wild dogs

The Wild dog people can be generally compared to a blend of Bechuana Nguni society and members of Lycaon biological genus.
Wild dogs are one of the fifty-five races of anthropomorphic mammals that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Canids together with Foxes, Jackals, Molossians and Wolves.

Physically, they are medium-sized and slender, with a height of around 5.5 feet and an average weight of around 40kg. They are relatively tall and slender, with disproportionate ears and a lack of spurs on their front legs. Their coat differs from other Canids and the older they get, the more gradually they lose their hair with older specimens easily recognized as almost hairless. The fur color is extremely varied, with a mixture of brown, black, and white hairs. The most varied color is found on the abdomen and limbs, while the muzzle invariably tends to be black. The tail usually has a white tip with a black base and brown hairs in between.

The Wild dog people were based in the eastern region of what is now Yphoree, relying on cattle breeding held in kraals (villages of huts, typically enclosed by wooden fences) as their source of wealth, and this massive cattle-raising complex prospered for some centuries. A mighty pack of Wild dog people then made their way into the western Maingkwa and shoved Ostrich people west into the savannah. Thus, for many decades, they were able to keep many livestock in well-protected desert areas and used their military prowess to sometimes raid their neighbors. This was clearly the reason why Secretary bird people looked at them as allies in an attempt to oppose Yphoree's birth. But opposing the huge Elephants was obviously a dead-end road, so it was decided to renounce war for the entire people's common good.

All southern Sarema peoples have always been connected to trade routes that run through the region, following the Der Aks Temal River to the Aelinar Ocean. Thanks to this, many trade goods from Sungam and Ikora made their way to Yphoree. That river was formerly the northern boundary line of Wild dog people's territory, and exploiting these trade routes, first as marauders, then as part of the thriving trade, Wild dog people have always been able to enjoy a large wealth and supply of luxury goods.
Wild dog people have a habit in common with their far-cousins of northern Varooy, that of singing to the moon, but their music is mostly vocal, sometimes performed with drums depending on the occasion. Furthermore, they are known throughout the continent, and beyond, for their very early discoveries in the astronomical field, Summoning magic, and cultural studies.

They speak the Commal language, common to all Anthro mammal races, and the most commonly spoken language on the planet.

Religiously they are mostly devoted to Vael Nhor (deity of knowledge and magic), Najan (deity of hunt and agriculture), and Sia Mori (deity of arts and dreams), but here and there also thrive the cult of Thialon (deity of conquest and ambition) and Madra (deity of discord and bribery), but also some Druidic and Lohudonist cults that keep tarrying.

Their ancestral princes were Ngwato and Kwena, who taught their race the essential unity of a pack, to which everything is due, and to which nothing must ever be lacking. In Wild dogs' life, it's not so much important to follow a leader, as it can be for other Canids, but it's much more important to stay united in a wide and numerous pack. Overall, Ngwato teaches them that the good of many is always more relevant than the good of a few, or just one, while Kwena requires females to leave their parents' home to join the groom's pack; it is indeed their responsibility to vary the offspring as much as possible.
