Lions
The Lion people can be generally compared to a blend of Pharaohs' ancient Egyptian society and members of Panthera Leo biological species.
Lions are one of the fifty-five races of anthropomorphic mammals that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Felines together with Cheetahs, Hyenas, Leopards, Lynxes and Tigers.
Physically, they are quite large and powerful, with an average height ranging between 6 and 7 feet and a weight that, in males, can easily reach 200 kg. The tail has a considerable length of about 3 feet and ends in a hairy tuft that hides the tip. A typical feature is the thick mane, which only males possess, and usually has the same color as the fur, but in dominant males, it darkens almost to black. The color of the fur varies from shades of yellow and chamois to reddish and ocher, and it is lighter on the lower parts of the body. Cubs are born with spotted fur, similar to a leopard, but as they reach adulthood, the spots disappear.
The Lion people, founders and rulers of the mighty Kemethiron kingdom, are based on a very strong family and cultural bond, strongly rooted in their savannahs, and are adamant followers of their sovereign, the pharaoh. The pharaoh who rules over Kemethiron is considered to be of divine origin due to his direct lineage to their Ancestral Prince. This belief is partly justified by the fact that, since the dawn of their society, the firstborn male of the same royal family has always ruled. However, it is also justified by a peculiar ritual: at the death of a pharaoh, he is completely bled, and his heir dips into a bathtub full of this blood. They believe that through this ritual, the first pharaoh's soul passes from body to body, and so their Ancestral Prince still partly rules over the Lion people.
The main feature of their architecture is the monumental pyramids with a square base: huge stone constructions surrounded by hanging gardens on each side, which serve as royal palaces. Often, but not always, a new pharaoh has a new pyramid built in a new capital, emptying the old one and making it a sepulcher for his father's (or ancestors') corpse. Also, when the new pharaoh's wives are numerous and strong enough, they kill all of the old pharaoh's widows and bury them in much smaller pyramids used as common graves for queens. Thus, leading their territory to be dotted with many pyramids.
Although they are a race of big predators and feared fighters, they are not a rough and uncultivated society. On the contrary, they have managed to develop a wide culture that includes mathematics and astronomy, as well as medicine and magic, and even literature and drama. But all of these cultural achievements are overshadowed by the war debt inflicted on the Antelope people, which makes Kemethiron a feared and disliked kingdom.
They speak the Commal language, common to all Anthro mammal races, and the most commonly spoken language on the planet.
Religiously they are mostly devoted to Jimbasi (deity of courage and nobility), Rowana (deity of family and hearth), and Caamiran (deity of law and cities), but here and there also thrive the cult of Thialon (deity of conquest and ambition), Dekar (deity of pride and wealth), Sia Mori (deity of deity of dreams and will), and Vael Nhor (deity of magic and knowledge).
Their Ancestral Princes were Amonrawr and Sekhemet, who taught their race the deep importance of task division. In this regard, it is basic in their society that males take care of politics, territory preservation, and war matters. On the other hand, females are given the task of all social and religious administration activities, teaching, and, above all, training the following generations to be strong and firm both physically and in willpower.
