Lemurs

The Lemur people can be generally compared to a blend of Sakalava Malagasy society and members of the Lemuriformes biological infraorder.
Lemurs are one of the fifty-five races of anthropomorphic mammals that populate Yanìs, and are grouped in the subgenus of Primates together with Gorillas, Macaques and Orangutans.

Physically, they are very small and light, rarely exceeding 3 feet in height and weighing no more than 20 kg. They have a long, bushy and non-prehensile tail that can reach up to 3.5 feet long, ofetn ringed in alternating colors. Their back coat varies from gray to rosy-brown, while the muzzle is dark grayish, and their eyes are encompassed by black triangular patches. They have a tapetum lucidum, a reflective layer behind the eyes' retina that enhances night vision. Their fingers, both prehensile in hands and feet, are slender and padded, and the thumb is short and widely separated from other fingers.

Like many others societies, the Lemur people too became stratified at the beginning of civilization, with a hierarchical stratification system based on the presumed purity of each stratum. It includes the ampanzaka or royal caste and the makoa or serfs, while all others are called andriamisara and are generally traders and freemen of any kind. The thromba ceremony has always been a historic feature of the Lemur people since their origins, centered around processions for their deceased royalty. The procession is more than a traditional event; it has historically been a form of community celebration and identity-affirming festival.
Lemur people have always been farmers, with highly productive rice and vegetable farms in the inner region, while in the coastal and valley region they have always had limited agriculture and bug lazy breeding. Except for that, they effectively lack in true breeding knowledges. Their cities are huge and populous networks of connected treehouses, built with a highly developed technique of carpentry and tree trunks decorative carving.

They place great value on mind study, language, and semiotics, which led them to that necessary mental openness to hear telepathy, in addition to in-depth studies of Mesmerism and Summoning magic. This unique linguistic development and adaptation skills of the Lemur people made them able to hear the mental speech of the Manta ray people, despite some initial difficulties due to the use of different languages. The common passion for archaeological finds and the trade of rarities acted as a social binder between them, leading to the stipulation of a mercantile-military confederation and the birth of a federal government ruled by the Lemurs’ queen and the Manta rays’ patron.

They speak the Commal language, common to all Anthro mammal races, and the most commonly spoken language on the planet.

Religiously they are mostly devoted to Ekoari (deity of commerce and science), Rowana (deity of love and hearth), and Ayrus (deity of prophecies and meditation), but here and there also thrive the cult of Teeje (deity of navigation and looting) and Vael Nhor (deity of magic and knowledge).

Their Ancestral Princes were Yndri and Katta, who taught their race two very different lessons: Prince Yndri explains that it's right for males to leave all decisions to females and enjoy life by dealing with more practical stuff; while Princess Katta explains that it's full right of females to control social power and trends. However, these don't conflict and so lead to no quarrel. In any case, both teach the importance of communication, whether verbal and made up of words and songs, or non-verbal, made up of gestures, expressions, and dances. What really matters is to be able to express and share thoughts and emotions.
