THe Lodges
Worth mentioning, although not relating to adventurers or their adventures, are the professions Lodges. Over time, various corporations of professions have formed in different regions of planet Yanìs. Some Lodges have a more or less high level of political and/or social power, depending on the significance of their activity among the people.
Some of the most famous Lodges include Actors, Blacksmiths, Breeders, Gem-cutters, Guides, Librarians, Merchants, Miners, Playwrights, Potters, Tailors, Woodcutters, etc...
These Lodges function similarly to modern labor unions, and their primary task is to act as guarantors and intermediaries for worker categories at government institutions. Joining a Lodge often leads to one's contracts being respected, receiving a fair price for one's works, acknowledgment of ownership of one's work or products, and other economic-working benefits.
However, it also means accepting working conditions that are not decided by the individual worker, paying a large annual membership fee to the Lodge, and submitting to the decisions of a council of the most influential (and often the greediest) members of the Lodge.
Over the centuries, some Lodges have acquired more power and influence, and some have even become more like criminal organizations than labor unions. Despite this, most Lodges openly follow the laws of the various governments in which they reside.
Consequently, they are considered the best way to start and support one's work, and many workers, artisans, and artists enroll in the Lodges, bearing the few disadvantages that come with it.
