Arcane Guild
On Yanìs, magic originated during the time of the Fallen Ancients, when Dragons began studying the ancestral nature of the universe under construction with their incredible wit. They created metaphysical algorithms and diagrams capable of manipulating surrounding reality, thus giving birth to Magic. However, with the coming of the Gods of the Ring and the birth of new Planes of Existence, these magic formulas had to undergo significant changes to be used fluently. This led to the modern subdivision between orthodox magic (mainly used by dragons and three particular orders), traditional magic (used by almost all scholars), and the so-called meta-magic (a highly exemplified form of magic).
The Arcane guild comprises exclusively of scholars of traditional magic. To receive help and support in the study of complex mystical algorithms, many traditional magic-users rely on two types of aid: a Familiar, a small or very small animal imbued with arcane power, that serves as mental support for the study and understanding of spells, and the Source of Power, an object typically composed of a wooden part (each type of wood has a different arcane "behavior") and a phylactery, a peculiar stone or jewel used to channel arcane energy. This is a characteristic exclusively typical of traditional magic-users, as opposed to Priests and Paramounts who rely on prayer and faith for the same kind of support, and Shamans, Witches and Druids who use orthodox magic and rely on a more "intuitive" study.
The Arcane guild was likely the first guild to be founded in history, with the aim of bringing together different schools of magic. It is subdivided, like all guilds, into five specialization orders, and it was probably from the example of the Arcane guild that all other guilds adopted the practice of specialization orders.
Order of Mesmerists
The specialty of this order is to train the most expert users of mind magic who are capable of manipulating and confusing the thoughts of Anthros, animals, and monsters alike. Mesmerists can create illusions and hallucinations, control minds and thoughts, use telepathy, and move objects with their willpower alone. They are a group of intelligent and highly cultured scholars, as the mind and reasoning abilities, along with willpower, are the foundation of their complex metaphysical algorithms.
Most of a Mesmerist's spells originate from the Ethereal Plane.
Order of Necromancers
The specialty of this order is the use of death magic, which is capable of controlling and intervening in the normal continuum of the life and decay cycle, even exploring the potential of undeath. The Necromancers can raise undead creatures to serve them and manipulate the healing and aging processes. The order of Necromancers, due to its commitment to serious themes, attracts scholars with a somber mind, but not necessarily wicked or vicious.
Most of a Necromancer's spells originate from the Darkness Plane.
Order of Sorcerers
The specialty of this order is to explore and use the energies of natural elementals, controlling their flow and manipulating their forms and textures. Sorcerers are skilled mages who are highly regarded on the battlefield, as they are able to create devastating explosions and manipulate natural elements with strength and pride. This order mostly attracts scholars with a resolute behavior, a tendency towards battle and confrontation, both on a philosophical and physical level.
Most of a Sorcerer's spells originate from the Elemental Planes, the para-Elemental semi-Planes, or from the chains of Light and Shadow that hold them.
Order of Summoners
The specialty of this order consists of the study of movement in space and the specific nature of each individual Plane of Existence. The peculiar abilities of Summoners not only include being able to move things or creatures through space but also the possibility of materializing creatures from different Planes of Existence. Among the great variety of scholars, one trait is always constant: the innate curiosity for the exploration, theoretical or practical, of the universe beyond the boundaries of the First Plane.
Most of a Summoner's spells originate from both the Elemental and Divine Planes.
Order of Transmuters
The specialty of this order is to train the most skilled manipulators of physical reality, who are able to alter the shapes and densities of the surrounding matter and the shape of living bodies. Specialized in physically transforming their arms into weapons of all kinds of materials, Transmuters can also alter the features of a body, enhancing or defacing the target's attributes. The Transmuters are a group of scholars with a practical and efficient mentality, focused on the efficiency of their study and its practical applicability.
Most of a Transmuter's spells originate from the First Plane of existence.
