Basilisk
Basilisks are small, creepy creatures that resemble long snakes with six short legs and slimy paws, a rooster-like head, and no tail. They typically live in swamps and are known to secrete excess substances, toxins, and body acids directly from their skin, as they lack an intestinal system. Their diet consists solely of poisonous animals and toxic plants, which, combined with their sticking slime and amphibious paws, makes them notorious for creating the unhealthy environments in the swamps where they live.
Basilisks can be found in almost all marshy environments, from forests to salt pans, and their skin tends to reflect the environment around them. For instance, a salted Basilisk can be silver or tan, while a forest-dwelling one can be bright green. These creatures are typically solitary and mate for life, laying eggs in putrid water basins before moving to a new marshy area, abandoning the eggs.
It's important to avoid touching a Basilisk's skin with bare hands, as the secreted substances can cause a brief paralysis in most Anthros and prove fatal for some particularly sensitive specimens. These magical, evil, and highly dangerous creatures are best left alone unless if adequately protected, as their skin can secrete poisons that go even beyond the protection of the most common clothes.
Alchemists and Occultists often seek out Basilisk eggs, skin, slime, and even beak due to their magical properties.
