Elementals
When the Gods ascended to the Ring and created the five Divine Planes by ripping off their essence from the Material Plane, the essential structure of reality risked collapsing on itself, bringing everything back to the primal chaos of the Ancients Fallen. However, the wise Queen of the Gods, in her infinite wisdom and knowledge, ripped off the remaining basic energies of reality from the Material Plane and created the Elemental planes. She bound them together with chains of Light and Shadow, thus birthing an intricate network of Planes of Existence made of pure elemental energy. The Elemental Planes consist of four main Planes, two secondary Planes, and various intersections between them.
The Elemental Planes consist of four planes, each characterized by a basic element of reality: air, earth, fire, and water. Additionally, the so-called chains of light and shadow are also Elemental Planes, called Para-Elementals, and are characterized by light or shadow. Unlike the Divine Planes, the Elemental and Para-Elemental Planes overlap and intertwine in some areas, giving rise to Sub-Elemental regions.
With the exception of spells cast by Priests, all other spells used to summon creatures always refer to the presence of elemental creatures. These creatures mainly appear in the form of animals, belonging to various species, with a body composed entirely of element. Their intelligence and cognitive ability is slightly higher than that of animals, but they cannot speak and usually act only by instinct. Rarely, in the four Elemental Planes, one can find creatures with vaguely humanoid features, made of pure element and generically called Golems. However, these Golems are never present in the elemental overlap zones, and therefore, there are no Sub-Elemental Golems. Conversely, the presence of elemental creatures is completely absent in the Para-Elemental Planes, populated only by Golems of Light and Golems of Shadow.
Most magic users tend to call on mainly Sub-Elemental creatures, and only the most experienced and skilled are capable of summoning Golems as well. This practice seems to be determined by the greater difficulty of binding the Golems' will to the summoner. Not that Golems are smarter than other elemental creatures, but they seem to be more stubborn and harder to control.
There are fourteen Sub-Elemental creatures, all made up of the union of two Elements or Para-Elements. The only exception is due to the impossibility of mixing Light and Shadow, as the two negate each other.
