Manticore

As often happened during mythological times, jealousy was not a feeling reserved only for Ethaam. Even the shadow twins were jealous of each other. Therefore, when Arisha created the Kiroptylons, Worak immediately wished to emulate it, giving life to the terrifying Manticores.
The Manticores have a disturbing appearance to say the least: vaguely resembling huge mastiff dogs, they can reach a height of 2 meters at the withers and a weight of almost 1 ton. They have a massive head wrapped in a thick lion-like mane of red fur, yet their body is slender and emaciated. They have a low bony crest along their back and two mighty straight horns on their heads. Their paws, unlike the rest of their body, are covered in brownish-black scales with long claws. Their tail ends in an apparently scorpion-like sting, but they don't have any venom, and the sting on their tail is just a pale imitation of that of other creatures. In fact, it is often used as a spiked club due to its excessive heaviness and hardness.
Manticores are ferocious predators that roam vast areas in search of fresh meat. They eat any type of meat, even carrion, and are particularly voracious. So much so that all creatures try to leave them large spaces when they travel into forests to hunt for food. Manticores typically make their lairs underground or within caves, particularly ones that other creatures would consider very dismal, and can be found in almost any climate. However, they far prefer to live in warm, dry habitats.
Manticores are not particularly sought after creatures for their magical or alchemical properties, but their fur and head are highly coveted trophies for hunters and wealthy characters.
