Like little Lòng Mae, Shedus are also known by the nickname "fairy cats," even though they have nothing to do with fairies. They look very similar to Persian cats, with long ivory-colored fur spotted with black that mingles with white feathers. A pair of feathered wings rises from their back, and their entire body, including their fur and feathers, shines with glitter.
Shedus are creatures that are typical of savannas, arid hills, and semi-desert areas, and can be found all over the planet. They are lazy hunters who use their magical nature to make as little effort as possible and avoid taking away precious time from their favorite activity: lounging under the scorching sun.
They are not called "fairy cats" only because of their ability to disappear in a cloud of glitter like Lòng Mae, but primarily for their hypnotic ability. Through their gaze, a Shedu is able to hypnotize any creature, making it catatonic and dazed for several hours. This ability is used to hunt rodents and other small animals they feed on. A Shedu hypnotizes its prey and leaves it there, catatonic, until it gets hungry. Their hypnotism is so penetrating that it works on any creature, without exception. However, the larger and more powerful the victim, the shorter the effect will last. For example, it's well-known that a Shedu can confuse even a dragon for only a single moment.
Although many alchemists and experts in illusion magic see Shedus, and Lòng Mae, as an excellent source of magical components, there are few who have the courage to kill and vivisect them. Most scholars end up adopting them as pets.
